I first met @donsitsquew at a trail running race I was working on in the Amatola Mountains. Who knew that I’d be the craftswoman to make her and @markslc01 wedding rings.
It’s been an utter privilege to be witness to Donneé’s transition into loving herself and speaking what she feels she deserves. From a girl who believed there was more into a woman of valour and powerful vulnerability. I remember clearly when we spoke about relationships after they ended D would say I want the sparkles and the magic and you know what…D found it. But she worked her ass off for it first. D, you are leading by example and I am taking notes.
Mark, you are a human of another calibre – your gentle spirit is endearing and brings peace. Also, thank you for my third wheel space in the relationship. You have restored so much within Donneé and you have captured her heart like no other. You have given her a safe space to fall, that is priceless in this lifetime and really hard to come by. But most of all, you passionately decided to adventure alongside her.
Thank you for entrusting me with these rings that mean so much to the two of you. Mark – for being adamant about found beach plastic to be included in your ring (legendary to the say the least) and D – for allowing me to add to the sparkle knowing it’s not my strongest point.
I am in a season of learning and failing. I am definitely in a season of learning (the hard way) how to ask for help. These rings would not have been possible without the incredible work of @tuesdayschildjewellery. Where I didn’t know how or couldn’t Jane fixed, made and talked me through it all – over hours and weekends included.
If planning a wedding wasn’t stressful enough, the wedding rings arrived the day before the big day. Talk about keeping my clients on their toes. Forever and a day grateful for the room Donneé and Mark has given me to be myself, especially in such a precious time. Thank you for loving me as I am and loving these rings too.
